The Best View of Australia’s Gold Coast

The Gold Coast draws tourists from all over the world to Australia. It is located in Queensland, on the East Coast of Australia. Most people travel here just for the beaches, and there are plenty of nice beaches no matter what to go to the beach for: surfing, swimming, family time, etc., however, my favourite way to enjoy the beaches was from above. Q1 is the tallest building on the Gold Coast and it’s Q-Deck viewing floor has fantastic views in all directions.

A high speed elevator quickly deposits you on the 77th floor which has a restaurant/cafe and 360* views. Signs along the windows display distances from things (The North Pole is 20,222 km in this direction), facts about the building (1000 km of electrical cable was used throughout Q1), or include maps that show you what you are looking at and what it looked like 10 or 50 years ago. However, the real draw is the view. When I was there I could even see a surfing lesson being taught on the beach far below.

Not only do you have the views of the ocean, but you also have the views of the mountains.

I didn’t have time for it on this trip, however, there is also an option to access the Q-Deck after dark, I’ll have to try it the next time I travel to Gold Coast!
